Etabs Beam design Overwrite
Intermediate, ordinary, and special sway are only used to determine the type of seismic checks to perform. These options enforce reinforcement limits according to the selected category. For example if you select sway intermediate/special, ETABS will check for reinforcement limitations given in ACI cRead more
Car parking live load on concrete floors..Including Impact and on Ramps as per ACI? ?
b-Floors in garages or portions of a building used for the storage of motor vehicles shall be designed for the uniformly distributed live loads of Table 6.2.3 or the following concentrated load: (1) for garages restricted to passenger vehicles accommodating not more than nine passengers, 13.35 kN acRead more
Beams and Girders
Bottom bars & top bars are different in beam/girder design. For top bars we consider larger amount of steel among both sides of the joint as per required at top. Same for bottom.
Robot Structural analysis
Defining slab under orthotropic is default approach. By modeling panel & bar element is equivalent approach. Both are ok, but in case of bar elements you can check analytical result for ribbed beam in details.
Is there any way to assign point spring as compression only in Etabs?
New version of Etabs (v17,18,19) has the option.
What is the difference between Slope and Deflection?
Slope is the angle formed by the tangent of the curve to the horizontal axis. Just like the slope of the line. Remember 2x + y = 3? Slope is -2. While deflection is the translational movement of the beam from its original position. Maximum Y coordinate of the curve. Remember? Finding min and max poiRead more
Out put of ETABs
This is based on Design Code. As per ACI code minimum rebar for column is 1%. For IS code it's 0.8%. So as per ACI code if column design rebar more than 1%,then it will show same, but if less or equal to 1% then it will show always 1%.
Slab Beam Raft footing
Beam design result will be different. Strip result is for Slab.
